Golf Day 2010

On a wonderful summers day in mid June, East Lancs Chamber of Commerce members Hayes & Co held their Annual Golf Day at the recently extended Mytton Fold Farm Hotel and Golf Club.

51 golfers took part and represented the Hayes & Co Partners and team, along with Hayes & Co Clients and Professional Contacts from across the region.  The Course was in fantastic condition, the weather was extremely kind (for a change) and the treatment received by all from the Hotel and Golf Course staff was first class!!

There were many prize winners on the day including Nearest the Pin on the 1st and 9th, Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, and Pressure Ball Competition etc but the overall winners were the team of Jason Thornhill (East Lancs Chamber – now residing in Australia), Neil Spencer (Financial Minefield Ltd), Daniel Booth (LC Corporate Strategies PLC) and Craig Fishwick (Hayes & Co).  Neil Spencer also scooped the individual prize for the Best Contribution to the Winning Team with a fantastic round of 65 (nett) on the day – 7 under the course par of 72.

Hayes & Co would like to thank their fellow Chamber Members at Mytton Fold Farm Hotel and Golf Club for a truly sensational day along with everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to join us at the event.  We truly hope that everyone had as much fun and enjoyment as we got out of the day!

It is designed to make returns easier and more consistent, and includes new penalties with the aim of helping those who try to comply - but punishing those who don’t....

Going Concern?

Going Concern issues raise many challenges for both auditors and directors when preparing annual reports and accounts. Directors and auditors have to make disclosures in their accounts about the company's ability to stay in business - or whether it can continue as a 'going concern'.

Directors need to ensure that they take an objective view of their business. They need to look carefully at cash flow forecasts. Doubts about the ability of a company to remain a going concern do not necessarily mean that it is, or is likely to become insolvent. If a business is unable to state that the going concern basis is appropriate, they should consider taking professional advice....

Debt funding for SMEs

The Bank of England's recent Credit Conditions Survey reported that banks tightened credit availability in the final three months of last year and it is widely acknowledged that securing funds has been even more difficult in the first quarter of 2009.

New lending is being restricted by lenders in an attempt to strengthen their balance sheets and this caution is also being applied to renewals of existing facilities. There is likely to be an increasing number of defaults during 2009 which will weaken those same balance sheets they sought to strengthen....
